THE COHO CONUNDRUM

For many years we have depended on the "spawner salmon surveys" conducted each fall to enumerate returning adult salmon. For many years we have recorded the results of those surveys on our website. Other than Brothers and Hadden Creeks, we usually see only a few adult salmon in the other creeks we monitor. It is ironic that we have difficulty spotting adult coho in the fall but we know spawning must have occurred because we are now finding juvenile coho during our trap and release program in the spring. - Jahn Barker & Steve Mac Donald have put their heads together to address this apparent conundrum.
